Librarian
The Albert Church Brown Library in China Village serves as a hub of the community in China, Maine.
The library is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and at other times for programs and events. The Board of Trustees is seeking a librarian. This is a permanent
part-time position – 40 hours per month. Staffing duties will be shared with an assistant librarian.
The librarian has oversight of all library operations and reports to the Board of Trustees. The librarian's role involves:

Overseeing library operations, including library programming and events

Managing library operations budget
-
Supervising library staff and volunteers
-
Serving as the public representative of the library
-
Working collaboratively with library committees
-
Providing leadership in conjunction with Board of Trustees to enhance library services
Library experience is required for this position. The successful librarian candidate should demonstrate:

Interest in and knowledge of books and reading
-
Knowledge of current library practices, policies, technologies and issues
-
Technology skills, including use of computers, library software and online resources, and social media
-
Organization and prioritization skills
-
Interpersonal and communication skills
Salary will be negotiated.

Assistant Librarian

permanent part-time position – 24 hours per month. Staffing duties will be shared with the librarian.
The assistant librarian's role is one of support of the overall operation of the library, under the supervision of the librarian. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

Supporting the day-to-day operation of the library

Handling special projects

Supporting library programs and events
Library experience is preferred for this position, but not required. The successful assistant librarian candidate should demonstrate:

Interest in and knowledge of books and reading

General knowledge of library practices

Technology skills
-
Interpersonal and communication skills
