Artist Retrospective: Ella Hansen

We have our next artist all set up. Ella Hansen has always loved art! To her, art is an escape to a peaceful place
and also a way to express herself. She is 15 years old and will be starting her
sophomore year of high school in September. Ella has been homeschooled since third
grade. This has allowed her to explore her love of art in a variety of ways. When she
was in sixth grade, she took a year of art lessons with Emily Cates of Vassalboro. Since
that time, she has explored art driven by her heart’s desires. She currently watches
YouTube videos, looks for ideas and tips on Pinterest, observers other people’s art, and
is willing to just try new things while she is creating. Ella has always been encouraged
as an artist by her family and friends who are always excited to see what new things
she is working on!
It doesn’t matter what kind of art Ella is creating she loves it all but, she
particularly loves painting, photography, and drawing. The past few years, she has been
learning more many more techniques on how to improve her art. She uses many
different media types. The types she uses most are acrylic paint when painting, pencils
when sketching, and a camera when taking photographs of nature. Ella loves to paint
landscapes, usually with some sort of water in the painting. When she is drawing, she
prefers to draw people. She loves drawing pictures of her family and friends. She has a
great eye to capture flowers, sunsets, and water when she is in the mood for
photography. Ella always enjoys listening to music while she is creating art and pretty
much all the time. She loves a very wide variety of music styles.
When Ella is not creating art on a canvas, in a sketchbook, or captured in a
photograph, she can most likely be found in the kitchen cooking, or outside enjoying the
sunshine, or spending time with her family and many friends.
