Artist Retrospective: Painting With Wool

Join us for a reception on Tuesday, July 14th @ 3-4 pm to celebrate our next Artist Retrospective on display at the China Village Library now through August of 2026. Painting with Wool features the artwork of local fiber artists, Bunny Caldwell and Bunny Macmillan.

Barry and Bunny both live in China, Maine. They belong to the Waterville Area Art Society, and have been taking classes and showing their work for several years at art shows and fiber fairs. Both women went to Scotland to study with fiber artist Moy Mackay. It was during this time, they learned to design pictures and wall hangings with wool, silk, bamboo and other fibers. The pictures are both needle felted and wet felted . Felting, or painting with fibers, is an ancient art that goes back to the early time of spinning with wool fleece, silk and various fibers. Bunny and Barry draw their inspiration from nature, their surroundings, and trips they have taken.
